West Bengal is preparing for a shift in weather as a new western disturbance approaches. Starting from Thursday light rain and even snowfall are predicted in the hilly regions of North Bengal while South Bengal will experience rising temperatures. Kolkata's minimum temperature may reach 24-25°C over the weekend.

North Bengal Weather Forecast

- From Thursday, light rain is expected in Darjeeling, Kalimpong, Alipurduar and Jalpaiguri.

- Higher altitudes in Darjeeling might witness light snowfall.

- Morning fog is likely in Darjeeling, Jalpaiguri, Cooch Behar and North Dinajpur.

- Rain intensity may increase by Friday and continue through Saturday.

- Temperatures will remain stable for the next 4-5 days.

South Bengal Weather Update

- No rain forecast for South Bengal this week.

- South 24 Parganas and East and West Midnapore may see light morning fog.

- Mostly clear skies throughout the week.

- Gradual temperature rise starting Friday with weekend temperatures climbing 3 to 4 degrees higher.

- Kolkata’s minimum temperature could hover around 24-25°C by the weekend.

- Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh may experience thunderstorms and hailstorms on Tuesday and Wednesday.

- Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Odisha, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Manipur, Mizoram, Nagaland, Tripura - rain and storms expected.

- Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand — heavy rain and snowfall over the next 48 hours.

- Saurashtra, Kutch, Gujarat, Karnataka, Konkan, Goa, Kerala, Tamil Nadu - heatwave conditions will persist.

- Strong winds (up to 40 km/h) might hit the Andaman Sea and South Bay of Bengal. Fishermen have been warned to avoid these areas.

West Bengal especially North Bengal should brace for rain and possible snowfall in the coming days. South Bengal will witness a temperature rise with Kolkata’s weekend temperatures soaring. Residents are advised to stay updated on weather alerts and take necessary precautions.
