The weather department has issued an important update regarding upcoming rainfall in West Bengal. According to the latest forecast heavy rain is expected across North and South Bengal from Thursday to Sunday with some areas also experiencing thunderstorms. Additionally Darjeeling may witness light snowfall in the coming days.

Rainfall Forecast for South Bengal

- Wednesday: Kolkata, Howrah, Hooghly, North and South 24 Parganas and Bankura will likely experience significant rainfall.

- Thursday: Moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms is expected across all districts of South Bengal.

- Friday: Thunderstorms and rain will affect East Midnapore, North and South 24 Parganas.

- Saturday & Sunday: Light to moderate rain along with thunderstorms is predicted across all districts of South Bengal including Kolkata.

Rain and Snowfall Forecast for North Bengal

- Darjeeling High Hills: Light snowfall is possible particularly on Monday, Wednesday and throughout the weekend.

- Kalimpong & Darjeeling: Light rain is likely from Wednesday to Friday.

- Thursday, Saturday & Sunday: Moderate rainfall with thunderstorms is predicted for all districts of North Bengal.

Fog Alert for Darjeeling and Other Regions

- Darjeeling: Dense fog expected on Tuesday morning.

- North & South Dinajpur: Heavy fog likely on Tuesday morning.

- Rest of North Bengal: Light to moderate fog.

- South Bengal Coastal & Nearby Areas: Light to moderate fog expected on Tuesday morning including Kolkata.

Precautionary Measures for Residents

1. Carry umbrellas and raincoats to avoid unexpected rainfall.

2. Avoid traveling to hilly areas of North Bengal due to the risk of landslides.

3. Drive carefully during foggy conditions especially in Darjeeling and Dinajpur districts.
