Winter is making its exit with clear skies and rising temperatures marking the transition. Despite morning fog the mercury has climbed nearly 3 degrees Celsius. However rain is expected to return especially in coastal regions starting midweek.

Weather Update

- From Wednesday coastal districts will experience rainfall.

- By Thursday rain is likely across all districts of South Bengal including Kolkata.

- A shift in weather begins from Sunday with a 2 to 4-degree temperature rise by Tuesday.

- Pleasant mornings and evenings will continue but daytime winter chill will gradually disappear.

- A western disturbance is set to approach on February 17th (Monday).

- Jet stream winds are active over North India with a cyclonic circulation over Assam.

- A north-south trough is forming bringing moisture-laden winds from the Bay of Bengal.

- From Monday skies will turn partly cloudy.

- By Tuesday temperatures are expected to rise by 2 to 4 degrees Celsius.

- Wednesday: Rain will impact North & South 24 Parganas, East & West Midnapore, with light showers in Kolkata, Howrah and Hooghly.

- Thursday: Rain intensity is likely to increase with moderate thunderstorms expected across all South Bengal districts.

- The Alipore Meteorological Department predicts thunderstorms with light to moderate rain.
