A horrific accident took place late at night on GT Road in Bally. A cement-mixing truck lost control and crushed a taxi along with two bikes. The taxi driver and a passenger died on the spot while three bike riders were critically injured and rushed to the hospital.

Details and Context

Yesterday last night a massive road accident shook Bally’s GT Road as a cement-mixing dumper ran over a yellow taxi and two motorcycles. The impact was so severe that the taxi got completely mangled under the heavy truck. Tragically the taxi driver and one passenger lost their lives instantly while three bikers sustained critical injuries and were admitted to Howrah Hospital.

Rescue operations began immediately with authorities bringing in an earthmover to lift the truck. A gas cutter was used to cut through the wreckage and retrieve the bodies. The accident occurred around 11 PM in the Dewangazi area of Bally. Meanwhile police have launched a search for the truck driver who fled the scene after the crash.

Traffic Chaos & Emergency Response

Due to the accident a long traffic jam stretched along GT Road causing severe disruption. CESC officials arrived to disconnect the power supply before the rescue team could safely remove the wreckage. A JCB was used to pull out the truck and firefighters were also present at the scene. Authorities are still working to identify the deceased.

Another Recent City Accident

This is not the first case of reckless driving at night. A few days ago a high-speed car lost control on Jessore Road crashing into a divider and a signal post before overturning. The accident happened around 11 PM near Dum Dum Ordnance Factory. The vehicle was heading from Kolkata Airport towards Nagerbazar carrying a woman and two men. Fortunately the airbags deployed in time preventing a major disaster.

These back-to-back accidents highlight the growing concerns over night-time road safety. Authorities urge drivers to maintain speed limits and drive cautiously to prevent such tragedies.
