The winter season is showing its unpredictable nature once again.! While some parts of Bengal are experiencing a cool breeze temperatures are rising in several regions. Northern Bengal might see light rain while southern Bengal is covered in dense fog. Meteorologists predict that the farewell phase of winter will begin next week.

Details & Context

The temperature has been increasing since Tuesday with Kolkata and other districts feeling the heat. By Thursday the mercury is expected to rise by 2 to 4 degrees Celsius. However from Friday temperatures will start dropping again bringing a slight winter feel during the weekend.

Mornings will be partly cloudy followed by clear skies later in the day. Light to moderate fog is expected in various areas with dense fog patches in some regions. The coming days might see an increase in fog intensity.

In North Bengal Darjeeling and Kalimpong may experience light rain accompanied by thunderstorms. Higher elevations in Darjeeling could even see mild snowfall though chances are low. Districts like Jalpaiguri, Cooch Behar and North Dinajpur will also witness foggy mornings.

For the next five days there won’t be any significant temperature change and rainfall is unlikely. The temperature might rise slightly in the next 48 hours but will start decreasing again by Friday. Over the weekend the temperature could drop by 2-3 degrees Celsius though it will remain within the normal range.

Over the past two days temperatures have risen by 7 degrees Celsius with Kolkata’s minimum temperature now at 22°C. However even with a slight dip in temperature after Friday winter's chill may not return in full force.

The coming two days will have foggy conditions with moderate to dense fog in some places. Today’s minimum temperature is recorded at 22.5°C while yesterday’s maximum was 29.4°C. The humidity level remains between 39% and 98% creating a mixed weather pattern for Bengal.

Winter's farewell is approaching but the weather remains unpredictable. While some regions still experience cool mornings rising temperatures hint at the changing season. Keep an eye on the weather updates for the latest changes.
