High Court's Order Restores Portal: When Will Students Get Their Admit Cards.?

top-news

West Bengal’s Madhyamik exam is set to begin on February 10th but many students still haven’t received their admit cards. Following the Calcutta High Court's intervention the West Bengal Board of Secondary Education (WBBSE) reopened its online portal last evening. Schools have been ordered to rectify student details by 2 PM today to resolve the issue.

Details & Context

The uncertainty over admit cards has created panic among students and parents. After a year of preparation students fear they may not be allowed to sit for the exams. The High Court has directed that schools must complete corrections by this afternoon. Based on this headmasters will collect the corrected admit cards from the WBBSE office tomorrow and the day after. By Saturday or Sunday students should receive their admit cards.

The delay has been attributed to errors made by schools during the online form-filling process. Many students had taken legal action, alleging negligence by school authorities. The High Court has imposed a penalty of Rs 10,000 per affected student on schools responsible for the errors. WBBSE has issued an official notice regarding this directive. A press conference is scheduled for 2 PM today to address the situation.

Additional Information

This year for the first time the Madhyamik exam registration process was conducted entirely online. The form-filling process started on December 2nd 2024 at 11 AM and ended on December 18th at midnight. Despite this students from several districts have not received their admit cards, leading to growing frustration and concern.
