Violence Erupts During Saraswati Puja Immersion in Kolkata, Police Attacked.

Tensions escalated in Kolkata during the immersion of Saraswati Puja idols as violence broke out in Garden Reach. A police officer and a civic volunteer were assaulted while trying to control the situation. Authorities have arrested three individuals in connection with the incident.
Chaos in Garden Reach
Violence erupted in Garden Reach’s Paharpur Road area during a Saraswati Puja immersion procession. As the crowd moved forward tensions flared, leading to a scuffle between the police and the participants.
Sub-Inspector Arun Maity and a female civic volunteer from Garden Reach police station were attacked while attempting to restore order. Both were injured and rushed to SSKM Hospital for treatment.
In response the police arrested three members of the Shibnagar Young Star Club from Rabindranagar area. Cases have been filed against them under multiple charges, including assault on police officers and obstructing government work.
Clash in Krishnanagar
Meanwhile another violent clash broke out in Krishnanagar’s Ghurni area between two local clubs during the immersion process. Two people sustained head injuries and five others were wounded. Three of the injured have been admitted to Shaktinagar District Hospital.
According to reports tensions began around 1 AM when members of Tufan Sangha allegedly attacked Daspara Barowari Club members while they were preparing for the immersion. A heated argument escalated into a physical fight.

A large police force from Kotwali police station arrived at the scene but by then, the attackers had fled. No official complaint has been filed yet regarding this incident.
Saraswati Puja celebrations took an unfortunate turn in multiple areas raising concerns about public safety during festival processions. Authorities are investigating the incidents to prevent further unrest.
