Unseasonal Rain at Winter’s End...! Temperature Drop Expected, Winter Chill to Return.?

Weather fluctuations continue in Bengal. While South Bengal enjoys sunny days heavy rain with thunderstorms hit Namkhana, South 24 Parganas in this morning. The unseasonal downpour has caused water accumulation in some areas. Meanwhile temperature fluctuations continue - Kolkata recorded a minimum temperature of 22.6°C today. From tomorrow mercury is set to drop, bringing back winter-like conditions by the weekend. A dense fog alert remains in place across both Bengals affecting visibility. The farewell phase of winter is expected to begin next week.
South Bengal
- The temperature in South Bengal has risen by 3°C today but is expected to drop from tomorrow.
- By the weekend mercury may dip by 2 to 4°C.
- The winter chill may return briefly but winter’s departure will officially start next week.
- Thick fog is likely on Thursday, mainly affecting Kolkata, Hooghly, Howrah, North and South 24 Parganas, East and West Midnapore.
- Scattered fog may be seen in Paschim Bardhaman and Nadia.
- Other districts might experience light fog in the early morning.
- Clear skies are expected tomorrow with fog intensity reducing.
- No chances of rain in the coming days.
North Bengal
- Dense fog has covered three districts - Jalpaiguri, Cooch Behar and North Dinajpur.
- Visibility may drop to as low as 50 meters in these areas.
- Other districts will experience moderate fog.
- Temperatures are near normal but will drop by 3 to 4°C in the next two to three days, according to meteorologists.

Kolkata
- Temperature has increased by 3°C overnight.
- A slight dip is expected by the weekend.
- Morning and evening chill may return temporarily.
- No rain is expected.
- Today’s minimum temperature ‘22.6°C’.
- Yesterday’s maximum temperature ‘28.2°C’.
- Humidity levels range between ‘44% to 96%’.
Winter is in its final phase but a temporary cold spell is expected by the weekend. Dense fog may impact visibility across both Bengals with major effects in South Bengal and parts of North Bengal. No rain is expected in the coming days but slight temperature drops will bring back winter-like conditions before its final farewell next week.
