Winter’s Unexpected Comeback

Kolkata’s weather is playing tricks again! Just after Saraswati Puja, the temperatures have taken a surprising dip. The city woke up to a foggy morning replacing the usual sunny start. As the day progressed, the sky cleared but the cool breeze hinted at winter's reluctance to leave just yet.

A Weather Rollercoaster

For the past few days Kolkata experienced unusually warm temperatures, making Saraswati Puja celebrations pleasant. Devotees didn’t have to shiver while offering prayers. Instead fans were in demand by afternoon. However as predicted by the Meteorological Department temperatures have now dropped slightly, marking a shift in the season.

On Tuesday, Kolkata recorded a minimum temperature of 17.4°C with the sun peeking through later in the day. According to weather reports South Bengal will continue to experience fluctuating temperatures throughout the week. Though the winter chill may not be harsh, the cold vibe will persist across Bengal. In North Bengal dense fog continues, reducing visibility in some regions.

What’s Next.?

The weather office has forecasted a gradual dip in temperature across South Bengal from Tuesday, followed by a brief rise and another drop by the weekend. This pattern signals the beginning of winter’s farewell phase which is expected to conclude by mid-February.

Meanwhile dense fog warnings have been issued for multiple districts in North and South Bengal. Visibility may drop to as low as 50 meters in some areas. However no rain is expected in the coming days and the sky will remain mostly clear.
