Asmika..! a one year old baby girl is battling a rare neurodegenerative disease called “Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA Type 1)”. Due to this condition her muscles are too weak to move, eat or even breathe properly. Doctors have warned that without “a life-saving injection worth Rs 16 crore” she may not survive beyond the next five months.

Details & Context

SMA Type 1 is a severe genetic disorder where the body fails to produce the “SMA1 protein” which controls essential movements like breathing, swallowing and muscle activity. Unfortunately Asmika’s body lacks even the “SMA2 substitute protein”, making her condition extremely critical.

Despite months of fundraising efforts, her family has only managed to collect “Rs 4 crore” so far leaving a “Rs 12 crore gap”. The “Zolgensma Injection” her only hope for survival must be administered before she turns 18 months old, or it will be too late.

Asmika’s parents desperate to save their child have even considered selling their kidneys but that won’t be enough. They are now turning to the public for help, hoping that “Collective generosity can save their daughter’s life.”
