Security Tightened for Saraswati Puja at Jogesh Chandra Chaudhuri College..!

top-news

The Kolkata High Court has ordered police supervision for the Saraswati Puja celebrations at Jogesh Chandra Chaudhuri Law College. The directive comes after allegations that students were being prevented from conducting the puja, leading to protests and a formal complaint at the local police station.

Court’s Decision for a Peaceful Puja

Justice Joy Sengupta of the Kolkata High Court ruled that a senior police official at the level of Joint Commissioner, must oversee the puja proceedings to ensure law and order. Armed police personnel will also be deployed to prevent any disturbances during the event and the immersion ceremony. Additionally the college authorities have been instructed to record the entire puja through videography.

Rising Tensions Over Saraswati Puja

The controversy began when students alleged that outsiders were trying to obstruct their puja inside the college premises. Some even claimed that they received threats of violence. The situation escalated, prompting students to file a police complaint, which led to a legal battle over religious rights and campus security.

College Administration’s Stand

During the court hearing the college administration stated that they were unable to control the entry of outsiders into the campus. In response the court directed the authorities to dismantle any structures inside the college premises that were creating access issues for students.

Background and Resolution

Every year two different groups of students organise separate Saraswati Pujas at different locations on campus. However this year a newly built pandal allegedly blocked access to classrooms leading to further conflicts. The court's order aims to resolve these disputes and ensure that the puja is conducted peacefully without disrupting academic activities.

With strict police monitoring and clear court directives Saraswati Puja at Jogesh Chandra Chaudhuri College is expected to proceed without any further disruptions. The ruling highlights the importance of balancing religious freedom with institutional discipline and security.
