A Man Kills his Lover’s Child to Save Relationship, Sentencing Awaited.

In a chilling incident from Hooghly, West Bengal a man has been convicted of murdering his lover’s 11 year old son to remove obstacles in their relationship. The court in Chinsurah found the accused guilty with the sentencing set to be announced on Wednesday.
The Crime
Arvind Tanti a resident of Bandel’s Lichu Bagan area was in a relationship with a divorced woman living with her parents in Hooghly's Krishna Nagar. The woman’s son Soumyajit, reportedly became a hurdle in their relationship leading to frequent quarrels between the couple.
On January 7th, 2017 Arvind lured Soumyajit with the promise of biscuits and took him to a secluded area near the Hooghly station. There he strangled the child and left the body near a temple close to the railway tracks.
Police Investigation and Trial
The boy’s mother filed a police complaint after the disappearance of her son. Investigating Officer Prosenjit Ghosh of Bandel Police Station collected evidence and presented it in court. Government lawyer Subrata Bhattacharya revealed that the prosecution relied on the testimony of 17 witnesses to build a strong case against Arvind.
On Tuesday Additional District Judge Sanjay Sharma found the accused guilty of the crime. The sentencing is expected on Wednesday.

A Second Shocking Incident in Hooghly
In a separate incident in Arambagh’s Bamundanga area a schoolgirl faced a horrifying attack on her way to tuition. Three miscreants dragged her into a forest forcibly made her consume a chemical substance and fled. The girl suffered severe throat and stomach burns followed by vomiting blood. The incident has caused panic among locals and left the victim’s family in distress.
These shocking crimes highlight the increasing need for awareness and vigilance in society. As justice is being served for Soumyajit communities must unite to prevent such tragedies and ensure the safety of vulnerable individuals.
