Dense fog has shrouded Katwa town since dawn causing poor visibility and disrupting both road and waterway transport. Ferry services between Katwa to Shankhai and Katwa to Ballavpara have been suspended, leaving many passengers stranded.

Thick fog continues to dominate various parts of West Bengal impacting districts including East Bardhaman. The reduced visibility has severely affected public transportation particularly in Katwa, where ferry services have been halted for safety reasons.

Since early morning Katwa town has been covered in a heavy fog layer making it difficult to see even a short distance. The authorities have suspended ferry operations at Katwa to Shankhai and Katwa to Ballavpara ghats to avoid accidents.

The Katwa to Shankhai ferry is a vital connection for Ketugram and parts of Birbhum and Murshidabad districts. Similarly, the Katwa to Ballavpara ferry is the only route connecting Katwa to Nadia.
