Indian Army's Secret 'SAMBHAV' Smartphone: What's So Special.?

top-news

The Indian Army has started using a specially designed smartphone called 'SAMBHAV' to ensure secure communication. Unlike regular smartphones this device is leak proof, hacker resistant and tailored for military use. Here's everything you need to know about its features and why it’s a game changer for the armed forces.

A Trusted Communication Tool

During crucial discussions with China in October, the Indian Army used “SAMBHAV” smartphones for secure communication confirmed by Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi. So far around 30,000 devices have been distributed to officers preloaded with essential contact numbers, ensuring seamless connectivity.

Key Features of SAMBHAV Smartphones

- Dedicated Secure Apps: Comes with specialised apps for sharing photos, videos and documents with minimal risk of data leaks.

- Leak Proof Technology: Built to prevent sensitive information from being exposed.

- Compatibility: Works efficiently on Airtel and Jio networks, ensuring reliability in diverse terrains.

- 5G Ready Encryption: Equipped with state of the art encryption for secure data transmission.

What is SAMBHAV.?

SAMBHAV stands for “Secure Army Mobile India Version”. It’s designed to enable the sharing of critical documents, images and videos safely. This initiative began last year to address the growing need for data security in the armed forces.

Why the Army Needed This.?

Previously army personnel used apps like WhatsApp to share information, which often led to data breaches. With SAMBHAV such risks are significantly reduced as the phones are preloaded with key contact information eliminating manual input errors.
