Former Indian cricket captain and Ex-BCCI president Sourav Ganguly had a close call when his car met with an accident on the Durgapur Expressway. The incident occurred while he was traveling to an event at Burdwan University. Fortunately he escaped without any injuries.

Incident Details

The accident took place on Thursday, February 20th around 2 PM near Singur. Sourav Ganguly was on his way to attend an official event when a speeding truck suddenly came too close to his car. The driver of Ganguly’s vehicle immediately applied the brakes to avoid a collision.

Thanks to the strong build of the luxury car, Ganguly remained safe and his vehicle sustained only minor damages. However the sudden braking caused a chain reaction leading to multiple vehicles in his convoy crashing into each other. While some vehicles in the convoy were severely damaged there were no reports of serious injuries.

Despite the accident Sourav Ganguly continued with his schedule and attended the event at Burdwan University with a smile.

Legal Action & Investigation

Following the incident a complaint was lodged at the Dadpur police station. The local police quickly took action and detained the truck driver responsible for the accident.

In a separate road mishap on the same day former Kolkata Mayor Sovan Chatterjee’s security vehicle was also involved in an accident in Salt Lake. His car was reportedly hit by another vehicle which was allegedly being driven recklessly. Both Sovan Chatterjee and his companion, Baisakhi Banerjee, were inside the convoy but escaped unhurt. A case has been registered at the Bidhannagar South Police Station regarding this incident.

Authorities are investigating both accidents, and further legal action is expected.
