Soon after the Union Budget was presented TMC leader Abhishek Banerjee expressed his strong discontent accusing the central government of neglecting West Bengal once again. He questioned why the 12 BJP MPs from Bengal remained silent despite the state receiving no special allocations.
Bengal Left Out Again.?
TMC leader Abhishek Banerjee has once again criticised the BJP-led central government, accusing them of continuously side lining West Bengal in budget allocations. According to Abhisekh even though Bengal had previously sent 18 BJP MPs to Parliament and now has 12 the state has been deprived of financial benefits.
During his journey from Kolkata to Delhi Abhisekh Banerjee had already expressed scepticism about the budget. His fears were confirmed when the budget was announced, and Bengal was once again overlooked. He stated, “Even when Bengal had 18 BJP MPs we got nothing. Now despite having 12, the discrimination continues. What’s worse is that these MPs will not even protest against it..!”
Bihar Gets Priority Over Bengal.?
Abhisekh Banerjee alleged that the budget was prepared with upcoming elections in mind rather than focusing on the needs of the common people. He pointed out that Bihar, which has elections this year, received significant allocations, whereas Bengal was ignored. “This is not India's budget, it is Bihar's budget...!” he remarked sarcastically.
He also criticised the Modi government, claiming that as long as they are in power, ordinary people, especially the poor, should not expect any support. “In previous budgets, Andhra Pradesh and Bihar received special benefits. Now that elections in Andhra Pradesh are over, the focus has shifted entirely to Bihar,” Abhisekh Banerjee added.
