In a shocking turn of events an 86 year old prominent businessman was brutally attacked over 70 times by his own grandson in Hyderabad. The dispute arose over a Rs 460 crore business empire leading to a tragic ending.

VC Janardhan Rao a key figure behind Veljan Group of Companies was known for his successful ventures in hydraulics and shipbuilding. However a family inheritance conflict turned fatal when his grandson Kirti Teja took extreme steps to claim his share.

How It Started

Teja a postgraduate who recently returned from the US visited his grandfather's house with his mother Sarojini Devi. A conversation about company shares and leadership quickly escalated into an argument. Rao had appointed his elder daughter’s son Srikrishna as the company director, while Teja had received Rs 4 crore worth of shares. Feeling side lined Teja accused his grandfather of unfair treatment and neglect since childhood.

The Attack

As tensions rose Teja lost control and repeatedly stabbed his grandfather with a knife. Reports suggest over 70 stab wounds though police have not confirmed the exact number. When his mother intervened Teja allegedly attacked her as well. She is currently hospitalised.

Aftermath & Arrest

Following the brutal murder Teja threatened witnesses and fled the scene. However police later tracked and arrested him. He was presented in court and has been placed under judicial custody. Some reports indicate that Teja was under the influence of drugs at the time of the incident.
