Bangladesh’s capital Dhaka has been ranked the most polluted city in the world posing severe health risks. The deteriorating air quality has forced people to wear masks outdoors and authorities advise keeping windows closed to minimize exposure.

Dhaka’s Air Quality Hits Dangerous Levels

For weeks Dhaka has remained at the top of the global pollution index. The city's air has reached alarming levels with heavy dust, vehicle emissions and industrial pollutants worsening the situation. According to the Air Quality Index (AQI) Dhaka has the highest pollution levels making it hazardous for public health.

Health Experts Sound the Alarm

Medical professionals warn that air pollution is causing a sharp rise in respiratory problems. Dr. Wanaiza Rahman from Dhaka National Medical College Hospital stated

- “Air pollution poses serious health risks especially for children, elderly individuals and pregnant women. Exposure can lead to chronic respiratory illnesses, persistent coughing and even depression.”
