Riyadh Metro Surpasses 18 Million Passengers in Just Two Months.

Since its launch on December 1st 2024 the Riyadh Metro has served over 18 million passengers marking a significant achievement in Saudi Arabia's urban transport system. In just two months the metro has completed more than 162,000 trips and covered a distance of 4.5 million kilo-meters across its six-line network.


Blue Line: The Busiest Route

The Blue Line running north to south parallel to Olaya Street has emerged as the most used route transporting nearly 10 million commuters. This line connects high-density commercial and residential areas making it a convenient choice for daily travellers. The King Abdullah Financial District Station has been the busiest recording over 3 million passengers.


Modern and Efficient Public Transport

Designed to tackle Riyadh’s rapid urban growth and traffic congestion the metro system spans 176 km and features

Driverless trains for a seamless travel experience

Air-conditioned cabins with designated seating zones

Smart ticketing through contactless payments, station kiosks and the Darb app 

Integration with Riyadh’s bus network for enhanced connectivity


Key Metro Lines & Connectivity

Blue Line: The busiest covering Riyadh’s commercial districts.

Orange Line: 41 km, linking Jeddah Road to Second Eastern Ring Road.

Red Line: 25.1 km, connecting King Fahd Sports City and King Saud University.

Green Line: 13.3 km, running through major government buildings.

Violet Line: 29.7 km, linking key residential areas.

Yellow Line: Connects KAFD Station to King Khalid International Airport Road.

With 85 strategically located stations the metro provides efficient travel options across the city.
