Saudi Arabia’s Project Masam Removes 714 Houthi Mines in Yemen

Saudi Arabia’s humanitarian initiative Project Masam has successfully removed 714 landmines and explosive devices from different parts of Yemen in just one week. These hidden dangers planted by Houthi rebels, posed a serious threat to innocent civilians including children and the elderly.
Hundreds of Explosives Cleared
According to the latest report, the demining teams removed
- 30 anti-tank mines
- 684 unexploded ordnances (UXOs)
The total number of mines cleared by the project since its launch in 2018 has now reached an impressive 481,240 mines.
Hazardous Conditions for Civilians
The Houthis have been planting explosives in roads, villages and farmland, making daily life dangerous for thousands of Yemenis. These mines have caused severe injuries and even deaths especially among children and farmers working in affected areas.

Project Masam's operations covered several Yemeni provinces, including,

- Aden
- Jouf
- Shabwa
- Taiz
- Hodeidah
