Saudi Arabia has strongly opposed any plan to remove Palestinians from Gaza emphasising that a lasting peace is only possible through the establishment of an independent Palestinian state. The Kingdom’s statement comes after United States President Donald Trump suggested relocating Gaza's to other countries.

Saudi Arabia Stands Firm on Palestine

The Saudi Foreign Ministry reaffirmed that the Kingdom will not support any move to displace Palestinians from their homeland. Saudi leaders have long advocated for a two-state solution insisting that a sovereign Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital is the only path to peace.

Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman reiterated this stance in a speech at the Shura Council in September 2024 and during the Arab-Islamic Summit in November. He stressed that Saudi Arabia remains committed to securing Palestinian rights and ending Israeli occupation.

Trump’s Controversial Statement

President Trump speaking alongside Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu suggested that Gaza's should be relocated claiming that Gaza is no longer liveable. He proposed that Egypt and Jordan absorb displaced Palestinians—an idea both countries have rejected.

Trump's remarks have sparked global criticism with world leaders warning against forced displacement. The Saudi Foreign Ministry responded by stating that any violation of Palestinian rights, including forced resettlements or land annexation is unacceptable.

Global Reactions

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas welcomed Saudi Arabia’s firm stance and condemned Trump's proposal. Turkey, Spain, Egypt and France also voiced strong opposition insisting that Gaza belongs to the Palestinian people.

The Kremlin reaffirmed that any resolution in the Middle East must adhere to a two-state solution, as outlined in UN Security Council resolutions. The UK also called for ensuring Palestinians can live and prosper in their homeland.

Saudi Arabia remains steadfast in its support for Palestinian sovereignty rejecting any displacement of Gaza's. As global opposition grows against Trump's proposal the push for a two-state solution continues to gain momentum.
