A terrifying incident unfolded in the United States as a United Airlines flight caught fire on the runway just before take-off. Passengers were left in panic as flames erupted from the wing, leading to chaos inside the aircraft.
Context
According to the New York Post, the incident occurred on Sunday at George Bush Intercontinental Airport when a Houston-to-New York flight of United Airlines suddenly caught fire. The flames were spotted on the wing of the plane while it was taxiing on the runway. As soon as passengers noticed the fire, fear and panic spread inside the aircraft. Some started crying while others were desperately pleading to exit the plane.
A viral video of the incident shows passengers screaming in fear with one person repeatedly begging to be let out, “Please let us out..!” The tense situation inside the plane was captured in this footage highlighting the terror among travellers.
Thankfully, the Houston Fire Department (HFD) confirmed that no injuries were reported in the incident. The flight crew acted swiftly, ensuring passenger safety and preventing any casualties.

Additional Context
This is not the only recent aviation accident in the US Just two days earlier, a tragic plane crash in Philadelphia resulted in multiple casualties, damaging homes and vehicles in the area. Additionally another shocking mid-air collision occurred near Washington DC's Reagan National Airport, where an American Airlines plane collided with a helicopter, causing both to crash into a river.
The recent series of aviation accidents in the U.S. has raised serious concerns about passenger safety. While authorities are investigating these incidents, travellers remain on edge due to the increasing number of flight-related emergencies.
