Today morning around 9:20 AM An anonymous call triggered a bomb scare on a Bangladesh Airlines flight traveling from Rome to Dhaka. The BG-356 flight was forced to make an emergency landing at Dhaka’s Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport early Wednesday morning. Following the landing the Bomb Disposal Unit immediately entered the plane to inspect seats, corridors, restrooms and other sections. Although passengers were evacuated safely, their hand baggage remained on board for further examination.

All passengers were relocated to the terminal building, where they are being held until the aircraft is declared secure. No immigration procedures have been allowed during this time.

Speaking about the situation, Airport Executive Director Group Captain Mohammad Kamrul Islam confirmed, “All passengers and crew have been safely evacuated and necessary precautions are being taken to ensure safety.”

The flight, which departed from Leonardo da Vinci Airport in Rome at 8 PM local time on January 21st, faced the threat mid journey. Law enforcement agencies have secured the airport perimeter and security has been significantly heightened across the facility.
