Explosive Bombshell: Zubeen Garg Was Poisoned in Singapore, Claims Arrested Bandmate

§  Murder Conspiracy Exposed in Zubeen Garg Death Case

§  Manager Accused of Poisoning Zubeen Garg in Singapore

In a shocking twist that has sent shockwaves across India, arrested bandmate Shekhar Jyoti Goswami has made explosive allegations that legendary singer Zubeen Garg was deliberately poisoned in Singapore, transforming what initially appeared to be an accidental drowning into a premeditated murder conspiracy.

According to official police documents accessed by @PTI, Goswami has formally accused Siddharth Sharma (Zubeen’s manager) and Shyamkanu Mahanta (North East India Festival organizer) of poisoning the beloved Assamese icon with allegations now forming the cornerstone of a murder investigation that has gripped the nation.

Devastating Witness Testimony Rocks Investigation

In his statement recorded under Section 175 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), Goswami detailed a chilling sequence of events that allegedly led to Zubeen’s death on September 19, 2025. The ‘Detailed Grounds of Arrest’ document, signed by SIT member Senior SP Rosie Kalita, contains explosive revelations that have transformed the entire investigation.

·       Most damning allegation: When Zubeen was “gasping for breath, almost drowning” with foam coming from his mouth and nose, Siddharth Sharma allegedly shouted “Jabo de, jabo de” (let him go, let him go) instead of attempting rescue.

Goswami emphasized that Zubeen was an expert swimmer who had actually taught both Siddharth and himself how to swim, making accidental drowning highly unlikely.

Premeditated Murder Plot Allegedly Exposed

The witness testimony reveals a sophisticated conspiracy involving multiple elements of planning and concealment,

·       Suspicious Pre-Death Activities,

o   Siddharth forcibly seized control of the yacht from its sailor, causing dangerous wobbling in mid-sea

o   The manager personally arranged all alcoholic beverages, instructing others not to provide drinks

o   When Zubeen showed severe symptoms including mouth and nose frothing, Siddharth dismissed it as mere “acid reflux”

o   The accused allegedly chose Singapore deliberately to conceal their conspiracy in foreign territory.

·       Critical Evidence Suppression,

o   Goswami claims Siddharth specifically instructed him not to share yacht videos with anyone, suggesting premeditated evidence concealment.

Murder Charges Filed: Four In Custody

The Assam CID Special Investigation Team has now upgraded charges to Section 103 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, which prescribes death penalty or life imprisonment for murder. All four accused are currently in 14-day police remand,

       i.          Siddharth Sharma - Manager (Murder, criminal conspiracy)

ii.          Shyamkanu Mahanta - Festival organizer (Murder, criminal conspiracy)

iii.          Shekhar Jyoti Goswami - Bandmate/Key witness

iv.          Amritprabha Mahanta - Co-singer who allegedly filmed the incident

Wife Returns Autopsy Report: “This Is Not Personal Property”

In a significant development, Garima Saikia Garg has returned both autopsy reports to investigating officers, stating: “This is not my personal property but part of the ongoing probe. If anyone is proven guilty of wrongdoing, they must face the ultimate punishment”.

The Singapore autopsy report citing drowning as cause of death now faces scrutiny against poisoning allegations, while the viscera report from Delhi’s Central Forensic Laboratory is expected by October 10th.

Chief Minister Questions Poisoning Claims

Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma has urged caution regarding the poisoning allegations, noting they come from “one of the accused, not the authorities”. He emphasized: “Why has he made that statement.? Is it to safeguard himself or to blame someone else - these things will be revealed during investigation”.

The CM has also formed a judicial commission under Gauhati High Court Justice Soumitra Saikia - the first time in Assam’s history that a sitting judge has been tasked with such an inquiry.

Digital Evidence Trail Intensifies

CID officials confirm they have recovered Zubeen’s mobile phone from accused Siddharth Sharma, along with laptops, hard disks and crucial documents that could contain vital evidence. The devices have been sent for forensic examination to uncover digital communications and hidden data.

Public Outrage Demands Justice

The revelation has triggered massive public outrage across Northeast India, with hashtags like #JusticeForZubeenGarg trending nationally. Fans have organized protests while social media platforms overflow with demands for justice.

·       Tragic incident: A grief-stricken fan jumped into the Brahmaputra River at Guwahati’s Saraighat Bridge, crying “When Zubeen Da is not here, what will we do.?” before being rescued by SDRF teams.

Investigation Enters Critical Phase

The nine-member SIT continues marathon interrogation sessions while preparing to travel to Singapore under Mutual Legal Assistance Treaty provisions. Special DGP Munna Prasad Gupta confirmed that Singapore authorities have agreed to cooperate with the investigation.

·       Key Timeline,

       i.          October 10: Viscera report expected

ii.          October 11: Full forensic findings due

iii.          Ongoing: Cross-verification of witness statements

iv.          Pending: Singapore investigation trip approval

From Cultural Icon to Murder Victim?

Zubeen Garg, who recorded over 38,000 songs in 40 languages and was hailed as “Assam’’s heartbeat”, now appears to have been the victim of a calculated murder plot rather than a tragic accident.

The investigation continues to unravel what may be one of India’s most shocking celebrity murder cases, as millions demand answers for their beloved “Zubeen Da”.
